Ricky McMurry was born in Dallas, Texas. He became involved in theatre during middle school as a performer. At Greenhill School he performed in several theatrical productions and with the school improv comedy troupe. Ricky wrote and directed his first play during his senior year. After graduation, he went on to study directing and playwriting at Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin. While pursuing his studies, he created original work both on campus and in the community. He also performed in the campus sketch comedy group. He is currently pursuing directing and playwriting full-time in the United States and Austria.

Ricky McMurry ist in Texas aufgewachsen. Er schloss sein Studium der Theaterregie am Beloit College in Wisconsin ab und schreibt selbst Theaterstücke. Seitdem er 13 ist, studiert er Theaterwissenschaft. Während der High School stand er in einigen Shows auf der Bühne und war Teil einer Sketch Comedy Group sowie einer Improvisationsgruppe. Mit 16 schrieb er sein erstes Stück und führte dabei selbst Regie. In seinen Collegejahren hat er einige Stücke geschrieben und aufgeführt. Er war auch in einer Sketch Comedy Group tätig. Heute schreibt und produziert er Stücke in Österreich und den USA.
